The Streaming Platform is Producing a Popular Game TV Series from the Creators of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The latest Far Cry game that gamers dived into was Far Cry 6, which starred Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the bad guy, Antón, and debuted on October 6, 2021. As a series, it is known for celebrating violence and mayhem with the same excitement, all while weaving gripping, socially charged narratives. It’s no surprise that the network’s recent announcement for a Far Cry anthology series brought on board two visionaries whose creations have exemplified all of those elements.
About the Series
Adapted from Ubisoft's hit video game series, the limited anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The show will also mirror the video games' style by introducing a fresh location and group of personalities in subsequent series.
Executive Team
Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as showrunners on the series under their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
The network enjoyed magnificent relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are working together for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is fresh, engrossing, and wildly entertaining. We also want to thank our partners at Ubisoft for trusting us with this beloved property.”
Cast and Future Plans
Mac will also star in the show, but at the time of writing, we have no details on what part that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago greenlit for a second instalment, with FX and Disney signing a new comprehensive agreement with the producer.
“Being able to collaborate alongside Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly accommodating, trusting us with one of the most famous video-game realms ever created. And throughout this process, my FX team continues to lift me up with their ongoing belief and support.”
“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an standalone show. Every instalment is a interpretation of a theme, the same way every series of Fargo is a version on a premise,” said Hawley. “To produce a epic action show that can evolve from one instalment to the next, while always examining the core of people through this multifaceted and unpredictable viewpoint, is a dream come true. I’m excited to collaborate with Rob and bring our common bold, visionary sensibility to the screen.”
A time frame for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
